Happy Halloween

,
I hope you have a good, fun day today, our Trick or Treat and parade was last Saturday. Sam and Syd looked so darn cute as a 50’s Rocker and Little Red Riding Hood:) Alex will be a teen werewolf and Nicholas is a lion, their Halloween is tonight…so cute!
Don’t you love this shoe for Halloween?  I thought I’d throw in a little bit of fashion for today!

Have a wonderful time!
BTW Michael came thur the hurricane just fine, he said the wind was howling so loud at one time that you just held your breath…praying! His backyard was flooded but that’s the extent of damage so far. Thank you to all that prayed for him, thank you so much!

French Linen on my Table Legs

The sun is shining in on my newly painted table legs and the apron part of it, I used two coats of the AS Chalkpaint…so easy to do I must say. I’ve never seen paint perform like this one does, doesn’t drip off the brush like your regular latex paint believe me I’m completely sold on this stuff!
picmonkey 009
I know I’m a messy painter, I think I just want to see the results so much that I forget to do things that you should!
I can’t believe how this small jar ( not the color I used but I had thrown it away after scraping it clean)lol…has did so many projects, I just had a little bit left and it did the table in two coats, amazing!

picmonkey 006
I used Paris Grey on the bench and French Linen on the table, Paris Grey is a pale shade of gray as you can see.
picmonkey 007
I wish I could stain the top darker but it from the 70’s or early 80’s and I guess it’s Formica, does anyone know if you can stain Formica? I’d like to do a walnut stain which I already have.
picmonkey 004
I tried a setting on my camera that blurs the background and it worked!
picmonkey 010
Brought my chair in( that I found in the garbage from along side of the road years ago) from the porch, we have been busy putting things away for the winter from out there amazing how you don’t know how much you put out for summer.

Have You Seen This Movie?

Hey everyone, how are you? Warm here today but windy and the leaves are flying off the trees!
I just wanted to come on and ask if you have seen this movie? I’ll have to confess I haven’t either …yet! I’ll be seeing it because my oldest son is in the movie, yes, he played the  football coach.
hr_The_Perks_of_Being_a_Wallflower_8
Just wanted to let you know if you have seen it or are going too, he was the coach at the time they filmed the movie at the highschool where he teaches and was asked to act the part of the coach, he said it was an experience for sure!
BTW this is him:
At Alex’s dance rehearsal this past summer!

Let me know if you remember seeing him, okay? I’m really proud of this guy!

Candlelight at Dusk

Candlelight, don’t you just love it? That’s one of my favorite things to do in the fall and winter, light candles and tea lights, as you can see it makes for a cozy home!

Picmonkey Photos 004
Owls a plenty on the mantel! Found the green tea lighted owl at GW for .99!
Picmonkey Photos 003
Here’s a little project I did, I framed a faux leaf onto some burlap. I’m also thinking of painting the shutter with AS Paris GreySmile I’ll let you know if I do!
pictures for blog 005
These pumpkins are the real deal, I think they are so pretty, I put them in a nice sized leaf plate that I found at a yardsale this summer for $2.00!

Thought I’d add a picture without the candlelight!

Chalkboard Paint on My Hoosier

Hello to you! Been trying to do some catch up around my house, I figured it’s sure not going to get down until I do it.
I saw this idea on Pinterest and fell in love with it, thought darn, I have glass in my hutch doors but then my hoosier  came to mind and had a aha moment:) Already had the chalkboard paint so I went to town on it!
The dried hydrangeas I found in the mountains at a town festival for $4.00 a bunch last weekend.

pictures for blog 006
Taped it off very carefully. I used 3 coats of the chalkboard paint btw!
Picmonkey Photos 005/
So I tried a black tray from Pier One and of course it doesn’t fit with the basket up there and I like the basket up there, the tray is just leaning to much.
Do you see the faux bittersweet I found at GW a while ago?
pictures for blog 008
So I thought I’d try one of the wicker trays that I found at the church sale, fit a little better but not quite! I’m leaving it there until I think of something elseSmile

Want to see the pin that inspired me? Loved it and thank goodness for Pinterest eh? The link to it is below.

Yes, Fall is in the Air in Pa.

Yesterday I just happened to look out our front window and noticed our huge tree was turning gold, so pretty! Last year it didn’t even turn, the leaves just fell off without changing color. Stush said it was because we didn’t have any rain, well this fall is different!

Picmonkey Photos 003

Gorgeous huh?

Picmonkey Photos 002

The weekend was so nice that I even found a yardsale going on! I’ve wanted a squirrel ever since seeing them on a few blogs so when I saw this cute guy I grabbed him up for .25! The chestnuts are from another yardsale from this past spring.

Picmonkey Photos 006

He’s glass so it’s hard to get good pic of him, I just think he’s so cute and the price was right on him too?

Picmonkey Photos 007

My BFF was in NYC and brought me these pictures back so I’m looking for the perfect frames for them, love NYC!

Picmonkey Photos 008

The walls between my kitchen cabinet aren’t done because I just couldn’t decide on what to do with them (plus I’ve been to busy), at Lowe’s I decided to take a look at their beadboard wallpaper…there was only one roll left for $19.99 so I took it as a sign that it was meant for me and that this was the way to go with the kitchen. This stuff is thick is what I noticed first and it does look like beadboard so much, I’ve seen a lot of bloggers using this and it looks great and you can’t even tell it’s not the real deal! Hopefully I’ll get this done for the holidays, gee, Thanksgiving is next month, just can’t believe it! Anyway if you want to see how it looks and how it’s done stop over at the Nutmeg Place where Meg gives a tutorial on how she did her’s…love Meg’s!

Also a great big thanks to my friend Debbiedoo’s for featuring me on her Home Tours … my fall diningroom! It’s always a thrill Deb!

Hello all! I’m ready for Marty’s Cloche Party… barely, I worked today and was thinking about doing this when I got home, not thinking that it will be dark when I get there:(. So these pics were taken at night, forgive me okay?) I have the cloche in my keeping room as I call it, on my wood table.
Picmonkey Photos 012
I used my Halloween gourd that I found at GW for .39, still have the tag on the bottom of it!
Everything you see I have had so didn’t have to buy a thing which I love!

Spooky Night

That’s what the sign says on my wreath, I figured I’d just go ahead and decorate for Halloween too when I did my front porch. I know I didn’t want to have a lot of stuff to take down so this is what it is:)
010
011
I bought the sign and garland that you see at the top of the door for $6.97 at Marshall’s. I thought it was cute and in my favorite black and white!
012
Pumpkin $5.99 at Giant Eagle, I almost choked.lol Needless to say I only bought one!
015
I had every intension of spray painting this lantern black but didn’t get to it!
014
009
Instead of crows this year I did owls… of course Buster knocks the bottom one off with his nose looking out the sidelight.
017
The light at the end of the driveway, the pumpkin I got a while ago at a yardsale for .25, you can use a candle in it if you want but for safeties sake I don’t .
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, you are always welcome! Have a great weekend too, gee, it came so fast didn’t it?

My Finds at a Church Sale

Saturday, Stush and I went to my son’s (Nick’s) church sale, Oh, they had Halupki, Helushski and Pedrogi  also Kabassi and sauerkraut, if you are or are from around  Pittsburgh you know what I mean!It strikes a cord in your heart that you thought was long buried and forgotten! I’m part Russian and Stush is Polish so the ethnic food is part of our lives and so much a part of our holidays! Which would not be the same without the food that has been handed down from generation to generation! Have you ever tried Polish lasagna ? One day when Stush makes it I’ll have to share you the recipe.
The neatest thing at Nick’s church every year is an indoor fleamarket, love church sales, their prices can’t be beat! Here’s what I found:
Two wicker trays for $3.00 people! Look how neat they are! I have no idea what I’m going to do with them… probably slap some AS Chalkpaint on them!
003
Aren’t they cute? Four little appetizer plates, 4 for $1.00 and dishwasher safe too!
001
Look at this basket, huge and only $5.00! I know I’ll be painting it with some chalkpaint soon! They had a lot of great things for sale but I guess it’s all about what you want or need right?
007
What about you have you found some neat things this past weekend? Better hurry up because I’m pretty sure this weekend will be the last warm one to scout those last yardsales and fleamarkets!
