A Cloche Party at A Stroll Thur Life!

Hi everyone! I can’t believe tomorrow is November 1st can you? The months are flying by and soon we will be decorating our Christmas trees! For some reason I’m just not ready for that! LOL

Now on to the Cloche Party that Marty is being a fabulous hostess for! Right before my trip to HomeGoods I had left a comment on Marty’s blog saying that I was going to look for a cloche while there and this one was is the first item I chose to bring home with me. I love the word Chocolate on it don’t you? They also had them with the words Pastries and another word but I forget it, darn! Maybe cake?

PA281603

My kitchen is a mess so there wasn’t any time to make anything,so when we went to Lowes and Home Depot that day, we stopped for lunch at Eat and Park where I bought four chocolate cupcakes and boy, were they delicious with a crème filled center! Hubby kept asking if I had taken a picture of them yet so he could eat them…I had one and he had three!

PA281604

I also tried a couple more plates under it to give it more height!

 PA281610

Then I thought about my black and white checked pumpkin that I bought at Target last year and placed it underneath the cloche! I took the bow off that had came with it and added a black one…cute!

PA281611

Here it is with the wording on the other side, the cost of the cloche at HomeGoods was $12.99, I didn’t think that was bad at all!

PA281612

I’m going to be working on my kitchen tomorrow since I’m off, I just can’t wait to finish it!

Stop by A Stroll Thur Life to see all of the beautiful cloches and while your there join in!

I’ll also be at Savvy Southern Style for the WOW Us Wednesday party!

Happy Halloween You Guys!

Yep, that’s me…a chicken, never thought I’d ever wear a costume like this one, he had to bribe me to be one! Doesn’t he just look like Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken? When he came out of the bedroom I howled, just couldn’t believe it.LOL He said we would win first prize where ever we went, he was right, we won grand prize and I got to keep the money…that was my bribe! This picture is taken at my daughter’s house, we stopped by to show them!
PA281615
Not easy having claw feet let me tell you! Sam was fascinated with the rubber chicken!
PA281617
A fun night!
PA281616
When I showed you this picture in another post I realized that the plantstand holding the pumpkins looked a little bare…
PA191583
so I bought this at Lowe’s which was on sale for $3.49, here when we got home the kid only charged us $1.98! So I got the mums and the pumpkin container for so very little. It dressed up the stand a little better I think!
PA291623
I woke up Friday morning to this! So pretty though!
PA291621
Our boat isn’t put away yet even and it snowed, I know others got it worse, thank goodness by evening it was all gone, just not ready for it yet!
PA291622
Chris showed me how to load my phone pictures but now I have to figure out how to get them on my blog!
Have a great Sunday and thank you to my newest followers, I so appreciate all of you!

Update on My Kitchen!

Hello everyone! Well, I’m still plugging away on the kitchen, with each stroke of the paint brush and each roll of the little roller I come closer to my dream kitchen! There are so many decorating ideas swirling around in my head even when I’m trying to go to sleep, it just won’t quit! LOL I know you know the feeling! It’s a big project but after seeing all of you who have done this before with your kitchens and reading about all your tips on it, I feel like I’m finally ready to do it.

I’ll show you what I did last night, this is going to be a long project and the kitchen is a mess and it’s going to stay that way until it’s done! So far Mr.K hasn’t said a word about the mess and I’m so thankful for that, I don’t need that kind of stress right now and so far no tears have fallen!

I’m also taking Lou Cinda from Tattered Hydrangea’s comment to heart, where she said she did her’s one section at a time so that’s what I’m going to do. This is the side of the kitchen where the fridge is, this is with two coats of primer, should I go for the 3rd coat? or is two enough?

PA281600

You can see in this picture what I’m trying to cover, I don’t want any grain to show thur!

PA281599

I’m pretty sure I’ll be leaving the doors off the cabinets above the stove and using these zebra baskets/containers, I found them at Burlington Coat Factory at a great price and love them. I’ll show you what they look like with the white in the next photo below.

PA281601

Looks great with the white doesn’t it? Of course this idea could change by the time the kitchen is done, like I said decorating ideas are swirling around in my head!

PA281602

This is what we are living out of but you know what, it’s all worth it, ask me though in a couple of weeks, LOL,there is still more on the counters oh, I almost forgot to tell you this, yesterday we went to Lowes and Home Depot and while in Lowes Mr.K asked me to follow him, that he wanted to show me something, I had know idea and actually dreaded it thinking he wanted to show me a tool of some sort! But we went straight to the kitchen counter selection!!!! Evidently he had been there while I was at work one day, ( I thought my stuff on the counters had been moved, here the sweetie had measured the counters)he knew I wanted black so there was one with a fleck of tan in it. He asked me if I liked it and guess what? I did, know hesitation at all…YES! My dream kitchen is coming true!

A Quick One Today!

Hi everyone!

I’m working on my kitchen today so this will be quick post!

HOMEGOODS was fabulous but wasn’t expecting the lines that were out the door at  11:10AM, they had opened at 8:00AM! People were coming out with carts loaded and we wondered if they would have anything left in the store! I did forget my camera but did take pictures with my new phone, I just have to wait for my son to get here to show me how to load the pictures onto my lap top, I tried but it didn’t work and of course there is  no instructions in the little book that came with the phone! Wish the store was closer I’d get a job there of course I wouldn’t have much of a paycheck left.LOL

I’ll leave you with pictures of Nicholas at 8 weeks now, he just looks like my son who is just thrilled with him!

Here he is at two days old!P8291333

8 weeks, wish I had got some when he woke up but was having to much fun with him to think of pictures

The Primer is On!

Hi everyone!I feel like I’ve been away for so long…. and I haven’t been able to get around  to all of your posts on your blogs but doing this sure takes up your spare time plus working part time doesn’t help either! I’m excited though, it’s finally happening, my dream of a white kitchen is coming true!!!  Thank you to all your encouraging comments about painting the kitchen cabinets in my last post it was so appreciated and really got me moving…no tears yet though.LOL

Look, here they are with just the primer on but already what a difference, they actually look brand new! I hunted around for a picture of them before but couldn’t find them and I felt I was just wasting my time because I’m going to go see my grandson today and wanted to get a post on here to let you know how far I’ve got with this project!

PA191584

Not to far but at least it’s started….aren’t they pretty? LOL

PA191579

Now this is my next project after the kitchen is done. I bought this at auction for $40.00 back in the 90’s and had painted it a slate blue, than I gave it to my daughter and her husband painted it barn red! Well, now it’s back with me again and of course it will be cottage white, I’ve already bought the glass knobs for it from Lowe’s!

PA191580

On another note, our fall here was lousy as far as the color of the leaves goes, this tree in our front yard is usually just full of gold leaves but not this year! The leaves this year were just blown off so quick, it just didn’t have a chance to be beautiful and it’s not only this tree you can see in the background how the trees are bare already.

PA191581

My husband was doing yard work yesterday while I painted in the garage and Buster laid in the grass waiting for him to get done! Such a good dog!

PA191577

I think I’ve skipped completely over Halloween this year in a week or so it will be November so I think it’s just going to stay this way! As you can see the bush got trimmed.LOL

PA191583

That’s about it guy’s, that’s all I’ve been doing, tomorrow I have a hair appt. and that takes up some time so wanted to get back on here to visit with you! I hope your fall weather is wonderful, it’s cold and windy here in Pa!

Put MY Big Girl Panties on too, and another Pinterest Project!

The other night I was sitting at my laptop and bloghopping away, looking at beautiful, white kitchens but thinking I’d just wait till spring to paint my kitchen cabinets, ( although I really want them done) then I visited Traci from Beneath My Heart, the title of her post really caught my eye, she said she was going to put her big girl panties on and do a makeover on her kitchen! Well, I thought, “Rondell, you are so lazy, here she is taking the cabinets off her wall by herself, I might add, with little ones running around even, and there you sit!!! Now this is where bloggers give so much inspiration to us, the next day I got off my butt and went to Lowes and bought TSP to get off all the dirt and grime from hanging there for thirtysomething years, what a job that was!

PA141573

Well, here they are, hubby took the doors off for me and removed the hardware! I also asked for black counter tops for Christmas….please Santa!

PA141575

The other side of the kitchen!

PA141574 The

TSP really gets the grease and grime off, never heard of the stuff until I started this blog:)

As I was cleaning them I thought “I’m finally going to get my white kitchen, it will be alot of hard work but so worth it in the end!” It’s not going to be done in a week or two, I have to work today and tomorrow but I will get it done because I put my Big Girl Panties On! Stop by and see Traci’s post and her cute video that she made you will get so inspired just like me!

Here is another project I did from pinterest…the glass jar is from Walmart and the Halloween cupcake liners are from the DT! I thought it was a cute idea and you can change the cupcake liners out for different seasons!PA141572

Well, I got to run as I said I work today and I have a few more doors to do plus washing my son’s dress shirts plus the kids are coming in today from North Carolina and Maryland so got to clean the bathroom.LOL

Have a great weekend everyone!

Halloween and Made Something from Pinterest!

Today when I went outside to sweep the front porch off of all the leaves that settle there, I could smell fall…finally! Maybe as I’m getting older the sights and smells of life are hitting me right in the face. When I was a teenager fall was just another season and when little I knew that fall meant Christmas was near! Now I appreciate it a little more, I noticed the other day that only two leaves had turned on the big maple in our front yard, today a million are turning,so fast, when it’s all golden I’ll be sure to take a picture because it is beautiful!

I was so excited to receive my first banner in the mail Saturday, I won it from Korrie at Red Hen Home for leaving a comment on her blog after voting for Crafting With the Stars! It’s made from beadboard and I couldn’t wait to hang it from the mantle! She also sent it so fast, thanks Korrie I really love it! It was the finishing touch for my mantle!

PA111550

After hanging the banner I went ahead a added three, little Halloween pumpkins to what I already have on the mantel since we are all gearing up for Halloween! I like to keep it simple with Halloween decorating, I don’t care for the spooky, gory things that sell so well at the DT, I always want to ask “What are you going to do with this”? as I bag a severed hand and foot.LOL Also packages of brains and whatnot which I can’t even look at as I scan them. YUCK!

I guess this one is a gourd:)

PA111553

I was fooling with my camera on this shot, maybe I should quit fooling around with it because it’s kind a blurry!

PA111552

Here is the last one, peeking out at you!

PA111554

All and all I’m enjoying my mantle this year, I was always worried that I didn’t have enough on it or to much, this year I just went with it!

PA111557

I saw this on Pinterest and knew I had to try it, I bought the vase at the DT and also the little pumpkins, ribbon from JoAnn’s!

PA111543

I put it on the ladder I have in the diningroom along with some spray painted pumpkins that I did a couple days ago, I realized I didn’t have enough!

PA111542

PA111544

I’ll probably have to put the vase up for Thanksgiving I know one of the little ones will bump into it and glass would be everywhere, wouldn’t want anyone hurt!

Just Fiddling Around!

Just trying to get finished around here with the fall decorating, it really is fall here in Pa.this is what I woke up to this morning…fog and cobwebs…yuck! Thankfully we are having temps in the low 70’s and sunny, as my great niece is getting married tomorrow so it will be nice for her wedding! Plus I have no idea what I’m going to wear, don’t you just love that feeling?

Yes, it needs trimmed as Mr. K told me while I was taking the picture from inside, my answer was “That’s your job!” I said very sweetly though!

PA071534

I put some blue glass ball jars in my corner cupboard, don’t know if I like it or not!

PA071530

I like it when I see it like this but not the whole room, will I ever be done decorating?

P9281516

I added these and I say these because I have know idea what they are.LOL I got them when I traded with a friend at our annual yardsale this summer, I thought they would look great for fall decorating. I do know the one is a dried gourd because I added that to it but the purple looking ones I have know clue! Do you know? The wood bowl I’ve had for years and found it at the flea market!

PA071531

I don’t show my kitchen alot because I just am not happy with it, it needs to be white with black counter tops! I know, I know I’ve said it before I guess I just have to get off my butt and do it! It’s such a daunting task though!

PA071535

I added a silver sugar bowl to the rooster lamp that I found at GW but I think it needs something else to anchor it together, maybe a placemat? Do you think? Any suggestions are welcomed♥

Mr. K likes a lamp on the counter, that way he doesn’t have to turn on the light when he raids the fridge at night!

PA071533

Well, I have to work till 5:30 today then it’s off to meet my bff for dinner and girls night out, always fun with her♥

I’m still having trouble with the drop down boxes when leaving comments, my comments just disappear so if you notice I haven’t been leaving comments on your blog that’s why, I thought it was fixed yesterday but it appears it isn’t!  Google Chrome is not doing it’s job at least not for me! Anyone find a fix yet?

I’ll be joining these parties, thanks for hosting ladies and if you don’t see me thanking you on your blog you’ll know why…makes me sad!

Another Rooster Lamp!

Hello everyone! We are finally having warmer temps here, believe me it was cold for the last couple days, I had to get out my boots!  So I’m sort of glad to see the sun shining again, I hope it’s shining too where ever you are♥

What have I been doing since Friday? Well, I worked Saturday and Sunday, Monday I cleaned the house which needed it plus pinning has worked it’s way into my life! Yes, I’m addicted to it, never thought I would be because at first I really didn’t care for it then I found out how to do everything and that was it! My son Michael and fiancé Corrie came home for the weekend to check out some places for their wedding in 2013! Which is exciting, so I showed her Pinterest and invited her! I showed her how she could keep everything that she loved for the wedding in one place and refer back to it, she was thrilled!

I ordered this rooster lamp from Ebay and it finally came, isn’t it cute! I have it on my kitchen counter. The shade is just to cute with the boa feathers!

PA051528

He’s black with a silver finish on him! He cost me $8.00 plus shipping but I think he was worth it!

PA051526

At first I had put him on a small wooden box I’ve had for years but it was to high looking!PA051522

Brought out two more cutting boards that I’ve had! This is also the true color of my walls and the counter which I hope to someday change to black!

PA051523

My kitchen will have white painted cabinets with black counters and some of the doors will be left off too! I have a few yelloware bowls so I may put them on top of the cabinets with some more roosters, we will see how that goes and looks!

PA051529

I hope you liked him and thanks for stopping by!
