My Favorite Project of 2011

One that will go on and on into 2012, my kitchen! I never thought it would happen but it did, one day I just had it and went and bought paint and primer and it was a go from then on. LOL
Here it is before…
I’m pretty sure this is the ONLY picture I have of the cupboards because I just didn’t like them, they were your plain, old maple looking cabinets from the 80’s! and also another decorating style, funny but I don’t miss it at all.100_2405
Here is the same cupboard as above.
PB221673
And a new light fixture, really makes a difference!PC281836
I love my counter top and can’t wait till the other side of the kitchen is done and when that happens I’ll take loads of pictures for you to see!
PB221674
When I walk down the hall I still can’t believe it, it’s always so bright and that’s what I was hoping the Cottage White paint would do. We still have alot to do, so far though I’m happy and happy it was at least done for the holidays.
PC201805
Well, that was my favorite project for 2011, I have another paint project waiting for me out in the garage this baby, just sitting there waiting and waiting for me to pick up a paint brush and make it pretty.smile

After Christmas Shopping!

I never go shopping the day after Christmas but this year my girlfriend and I decided to go, after all I had some gift cards that were burning a hole in my wallet!
I think my greatest buy was this pendant light fixture that I found at Target, it has a nickel finish that is the same as my hardware on my cabinets and it totally brought the room together, I’ll be selling my other light fixture on Craiglist! My new one only set me back $19.99 on clearance. I also bought wrapping paper for next Christmas, tags and bows, no more Dollar Tree ones!
PC281835
Here is another shot of it, can’t wait to get the time to paint the window trim, I did get the outlets painted though.
PC281836
Found the cutest S&P’s at Macy’s to add to my Christmas collection of S&P’s. While there I picked up a jacket and nice sheets with a black ticking pattern by Martha Stewart on sale!
PC281842
While at TJMaxx their Christmas decor was 50% off so the reindeer only cost me $6.00
PC281837
I received so many nice and pretty things from Stush and the kids but this one was really special, Alex and Nicholas, given to me in a Martha Stewart frame. Sorry about the light on it but I just couldn’t get a good position with it because of the light in the diningroom, so precious anyway!
PC281843
I have two more things to show you but I want to get all the Christmas decorations down and put away before I do, we leave everything up until New Years I like to enjoy them a little more since I had to work more days than I usually do.
I’ll be joining these parties so stop on over and see all the talent out there in blogland!

I received everything I wanted and more, hope it was the same for you! Having everyone together was just wonderful and we also celebrated Nicholas’s first Christmas, how blessed we were!
I thought I’d list some of my favorite projects from this past year, changing from one style to another was hard work but fun, I have never painted so much as I have this year but so worth the time and trouble it took to achieve the look I’m going for. Adding and Adding On!

Hello blogging buds! Sorry I’ve been away for a while, just been busy working more days than I usually do plus parties and yes, still decorating but I’m pretty sure I’m done with that!
I wanted to show you some pics where I added a little bit more, things I found after I thought I was done decorating, have you ever did that? Digging thur boxes and finding things that you bought at the after Christmas sales? I had bought these sparkly sprigs at Macy’s (for a dollar each) and forgot all about them, love how they look!
PC201796
On some blogs I would see such cute Kitchen Santa’s and knew if I saw one I’d buy him, Macy’s didn’t have any but K-Mart did, isn’t he neat, I love the cupcakes he is holding. I added some greenery to my Roo lamp made it look a little more festive I think!
PC201787
Here is a closer look at him, love his little, black boots♥
PC201789
This is one of the my favorite parts of my “new” kitchen, it really makes a statement, everyone comments on it!
PC201785
I had to decorate it up for Christmas, I went with red and silver this year!
PC201786
This is in the room off the kitchen, each Christmas I bring out this little tree, it leans a little and I always feel it was sort of like me then, broken but still standing, it was the only tree I had that year all I had was in storage! I lived with my sister for about nine months. A hard year for me, I lost my best friend, my mom, left someone, which was a good thing, let me just say a very bleak year! Good things happened too though, Sydney was born and the following year I met Stush. BTW my walls are not that color at all, hate that it looks like mustard!
PC201790
The white Dove ornament my mom had bought me!
PC201791
The vintage bank Santa was given to my youngest when he was about three years old, we were at the fleamarket and a vendor just up and gave it to him with the pennies in it, Chris is now 31 years old but I always bring him out too!
PC201792
Sitting on my Hoosier, S&P shakers, love them but don’t have room for them but at Christmas time I do buy them, I have three sets so I guess that’s a collection right?
PC201793
I bought this wreath last year but can never find a place for it, so for now it hangs on the chair!
PC201811
I added another swag to my mantel and bought it at Michael’s for half off, it brightened it up more and that’s what I was going for!
PC201795
Each year I buy an ornament/ornaments and this year I found this swan at Macy’s she looks like she’s made of glass but she’s not but sparkles just the same!
PC201797
My entryway done in holly!
PC201802

PC201804
My kitchen…I still sigh over it and smile, amazing what paint can do isn’t it? Just can’t wait till the counters come in………and a new light. Next we will paint the ceiling fans black and all the gold on it will become nickel. I’m thinking on those school light fixtures for it too.
PC201812
Here is the one side that is done.
PC201813
Santa mugs waiting for the grandchildren and I did get myself and others the peppermint handsoap and the silver cover for it at Bath and Body Works, smells so good!
PC201808
I’ll leave you with this photo of my diningroom, I wrapped gifts last night while Stush and Chris watched the Steeler game!
PC201800

Vignettes Around MY Home!

Let’s start in the livingroom, there are just a few right now though, this shelf Stush made for me for Christmas when I was into a different decorating style. I still love and always decorate it,Everything on the shelf is from GW.It sits above my couch/sofa and has a beadboard back to it!
PC061751
My $5.00 vintage suitcase that sits way on top of the stepback cupboard Stush also made me, dressed in holly and silver Poinsettisa.
PC071777
Now to the little room off the kitchen, I put my blue mason jars back up there and I just keep forgetting to buy more greens to put in the market basket or tomato basket as some may call it!
PC061760
This is on my white sewing machine, so pretty I think!
PC061761
Let’s go into the kitchen, I just bought the Fitz and Floyd plate at Macy’s and it’s sitting by my canisters and I’m still loven the rooster lamp!
PC071771
The rooster mug filled with holly I found for $5.00 at our yardsale this summer and almost forgot about it till just the other day!
PC061764
I keep a couple old pictures in the DT votive cup, that’s my mom and dad, I remember her telling me that she traveled by train to Mississippi to my dad’s naval base, he was going to be shipped out. Mom never saw him again for the next four years, she must have sent him this picture because on the back she had wrote “What a pair” they were only in their early 20’s here in this photo.
PC061765
Also filled my “Chocolate Cloche with some silver ornaments and next to it is my new roo!
PC071770
Hope you enjoyed my vignettes today, I’ll be taking pictures of my whole kitchen soon, not tomorrow though, I’m off so I’ll be shopping with my daughter tomorrow after Sydney’s Christmas concert in the morning!
