My Christmas Tree This Year!

My tree from last year! To big and I had to put the lights on.

106_2130

As I’ve said before this style changing can be expensive…the day after Thanksgiving Mr. K and I went shopping for a prelit tree after going to Home Depot for the 99.00 advertised tree, which was all sold out, we went on to Lowes, Target and Walmart. The tree from Walmart came home with us and can I say “I love it”! No more putting lights on the tree…just set it up and start decorating:) I did it all in silver and all except for the bow and garland which I bought at Big Lots, are from the Dollar Tree. The most expensive thing I bought was the white, velvet tree skirt for $25.00, which I think Mr. K almost chocked when he paid for it.LOL In the picture below I had just finished decorating it

The top of it100_3469

The middle and my chandy ornament from Macy’s, I looked on my receipt and it looks like I paid $7.49 for it on sale yikes!!! Oh well, I love it!

100_3470

The bottom!

100_3471

The skirt is quilted around the border and the boxes and ribbon are from the Dollar Tree.

100_3472

I hung my tarnished silver tray behind the tree but I don’t know if I’ll leave it there or not, it does look pretty at night when the tree is lit.

100_3474

Can you believe I’ve already been to see Santa? Sydney is growing so fast…9 years old already!

100_3467

Samantha believes with all her 5 year old heart:)

100_3466

Two little angels, although their mother disagrees sometimes:) To me they can do no wrong and that’s the way it should be for grammy’s. They had their dangly Christmas earrings on too!

A Little Teeny, Tiny Bit of Christmas

I know I keep showing the corner of this room but I just love how it’s turning out, it feels, in just this corner, that I’m doing something right:)

I went to GW the other day and I swear on the way over there I thought gee, I’d love to find a wire basket…well it’s not wire but a very heavy basket. It’s right at the top of the corner cabinet.

100_3452

Here is a better picture of it on the bench and one good thing is that it’s started to rust!!! Notice the handles that do go up and down.

100_3463

You can see in this picture some of the rust.

100_3464

While shopping at Macy’s I stopped to look at the Christmas trimmings because I buy the girls each one for there stockings every year, I found this one for me though…a Chandelier, I just hung it here so that you could see!

100_3453

I found the milk glass bowel at GW for .99 and the pastel candycanes at Toy’s R Us.

100_3455

Also the cute Santa sleigh for .79!

100_3461

Here is another tiny bit of Christmas, love the snowman  towel, I think I bought them at TjMaxx or Marshales can’t remember which! I still have to glaze all three pieces that you see there too.

As you can see I haven’t painted the hoosier yet, or thought of what shade of paint…you can see the paint card taped to the side of it, I think I’m going to wait till after Christmas, our garage is heated so in January when I’m always bored I’ll have something to do.

100_3456

I want to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and may you be surrounded with love, family and friends♥

I’m linking to Faded Charms white Wednesday be sure to stop by for a little rest on the computer from all the preparing and cooking you are doing for Thursday!

Why I Was at the Steeler Game

Here I am ready to go to the bus for the Steeler game yesterday evening, of course I’m all bundled up underneath the jeggings and Steeler shirt. What was amazing to me was that the baseball hat was warm…no wonder men wear them!
100_3423
On the bus and on our way, we are about 30 miles from Pittsburgh.
100_3431
When we got to Heinz Field we got to see The Great Hall, sorry about the picture but this is the Busses memiorbella. He’s retired now but sure miss him in the games!
100_3436
Jack Lambert!
100_3439
I have more pictures but I won’t bore you with them, now to get on to why I was at the game...this is a picture of my oldest son, he was being honored at the Steeler game for coach of the week! I’m very proud of him♥
100_3432
Here we are before the game tailgating, Mr. K closed his eyes on this one!
100_3433

Can you imagine seeing your son up there? What a moment for me, all those Mighty Might football games I went to, all those uniforms I washed and tried to get white, captain of the high school football team… it all led to this for me♥
100_3449
What a moment for him too!
100_3450
Nick and Christine sat on the left there…right on the field!
100_3447
Just had to show you that dreams do come true for kids and Mom’s too♥
Have a wonderful Monday!

This is it so Far

What do you think? Am I getting there or what? What a journey this has been for me...spray painting,  spray painting and just plain painting also decisions, decisions and more decisions. So I decided to go to the pros, that means YOU!
100_3412
What should I do with this Hoosier, it’s across the room on the right, paint it white or can you do a different white on it, more creme? Or should I just leave it the way it is? Do you have another suggestion, believe me I need to hear if you do :) I paid $100.00 for it back in the 80’s and it was white originally but had it stripped to this walnut stain. This is what it looks like as I type this…a mess! Everything is put there while decorating or painting, eventually I’d like to use it as a place to put my lap top and that’s all that would be on there plus have my shabby chic holders for paper clips and such in the cupboard above. Mr. K is getting a roll top desk and I’d sort of like this to be my place:)
100_3419
Another look at it!
100_3418
I added this mirrored sconce to the left of the corner cabinet and in my last post I said the picture was titled Afternoon Snack here I looked and it’s Afternoon Treat.
100_3409

I bought the plate to go with the bowl from Walmart and was going to use it above the kitchen cabinets but thought it look better here with the bowl.
100_3408
Here’s my first rooster! Isn’t he handsome? I love the lacey detailing on him and I found him at Marshall’s, looks so good on top of the cabinets!100_3413
,Now here are two soup tureens I found at GW, the first one was only $3.99 but no spoon, still bought it though!
 100_3414
This one I found Monday at GW and only $5.99 of course though I get the discount because I’m over 55 anyway… it is a big one and came with the spoon which is ceramic too!
 100_3415
This is where my bench is at the moment, I tried putting it in the entryway but it was to big, I think I’m going to use it in my bedroom whenever I get that room done, I just feel like I’m never going to get done.LOL

100_3417
I’m sure you are wondering about this spice shelf, I got it at GW this past summer and spray painted it aqua, don’t know if I like it or not but for $2.99 I thought what the heck. It’s great for salt & pepper shakers both sets are from GW too! I’ve been looking for more just haven’t come across any lately. Oh, that goldish thing there on the bottom shelf is a gourd that must have toppled over.100_3410

Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend, beautiful weather here in PA.
Have a great day wherever you are:)

I’m Still Not Satisfied!

This is the Before picture, to me too white…

 100_3351

and the After…there is a difference isn’t there? I do know I’ll never buy pure white again but live and learn:)

I’m sure learning and I guess that’s what it’s all about, trouble is I want it perfect like I see in blogland that just make me sigh but I’ll get there one day. Thank you to those that commented and explained how to do the glaze, I do like glazing I just have to sand alot more I think, even when I was prim I hesitated to sand alot.lol This picture was taken at night and pretty close as to the true color of the paint on the walls, sometimes it shows green but it isn’t.

100_3406

You can see some of the glaze here, do you think I need to sand more?

100_3393

The bowl I bought at Walmart the other day, my daughter is off all week and it seems that’s all we did was shop! I did pick up some stocking stuffers for the girls at Toy’s R Us so I guess I’ve started Christmas shopping!

100_3402

This tea cup I bought at TJMax I thought it would look good here!

100_3401

I also glazed my chair and the ceramic pot of tiny rosebuds I found at GW for $1.99.

100_3395

Here’s the back of it, I do love this.

100_3396

This mirror my SIL gave me, love the bevel on the mirror but looks like I smeared it when I tried to clean some glaze off of it.

100_3400

The next three pictures are of some GW finds and I have more that I’ll do in another post, getting sick sure put me back on comments and showing my finds! Anyway, I found this bunny for Easter for $2.00 I just couldn’t pass him up, he’s made of Hydrangeas.100_3398

I think I lucked out with him for spring time, he’s put away until then.

100_3399

I also found this picture at Gw for $1.99 it’s titled Afternoon Snack, I’m sort of liking the gold frame for now!

100_3394

I thought this little container for seeds was neat, inside are compartments for different seeds!

100_3403

These are from Dutch Boy, I’m leaning towards the one on the right which is called Kiss of Cream and the left one is Weathered White. I got them at Walmart but had to leave the paint area because Samantha wanted me to see Barbie’s Townhouse that she wants Santa to bring her:)

100_3397

Well, that’s all ladies for now anyway…I’m linking to Faded Charm for White Wednesday and Kim’s Before and After Party please stop by to see all the wonderful talent out in blogland!

White Corner Cabinet

I slept till 10 Am this morning and worked from 1 till 6 and I’m not tired at all, I really don’t like to sleep that late because this is what happens…I can’t sleep!!! I have to be up by 7:30 AM to go to my daughter’s house the girls don’t have school tomorrow and also have to be at work by 4 and work till 9 needless to say I hope I’ll be tired tomorrow night and be able to sleep! Anyway, here are two pictures of my corner cabinet painted black, I’ve had this cabinet since the early 90’s. First it was stained walnut then I painted the inside of it country blue than barn red finally black!

100_2585

100_2596

Here it is now white and I don’t think I’m liking it, just to white for me or something.

100_3351

Tonight after work I stopped at Lowe’s and bought some glaze, Mocha, but I’m really stumped at how to apply it, I did sand it but do you apply it all over or just on the area where it’s sanded? There are no directions on the label, do I just use a clean rag?

100_3355

This is the top part…

100_3352

and the bottom. I have to get a glass knob from Target for the door yet!

100_3353

I’ve also been doing this with the top of my cabinets, the platter in the very corner, in back of the pitcher, is from Walmart. I paid $12.00 for it which I don’t usually do but there were only two left, I’m glad now I did buy it, love the detail on it. I fell in love with the look when I saw Sissie’s Shabby Cottage kitchen and how she had the platters on top of her cabinets.

100_3357

See the detail on the platter and it kind of distressed too, the water pitcher I found at Marshall’s for $6.99, which I didn’t think was to bad!

100_3358

Well, I think it’s time to turn in, it’s like 1:40 Am! So I’m going to join these parties:

Have a great night or should I say morning.LOL
